Commission supports key energy infrastructure projects with new €600 million funding call
The European Commission is calling for proposals for energy infrastructure projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), with funding up to €600 million. This call targets Projects of Common and Mutual Interest as defined in the revised TEN-E Regulation, which excludes fossil fuels, aligning with the EUs climate objectives.
Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen emphasized the need for robust energy investments to establish a genuine Energy Union, vital for competitiveness, security, and cost reduction. Applications for EU funding are open until September 16, 2025, with an info day in May to guide applicants. Results will be announced early next year.
The call aims to enhance the Energy Union, ensuring citizens and businesses benefit from clean energy and integrated markets. CEF Energy supports infrastructure, growth, and jobs with a €5.88 billion budget (2021-2027).

La Commission annonce les lauréates du prix européen des femmes innovatrices 2025
At the European Innovation Council Summit in Brussels, the Commission will announce the winners and finalists of the 11th European Prize for Women Innovators.
This prize honors women from the EU and Horizon Europe-associated countries who founded successful companies and introduced market innovations. Winners, selected by an independent jury, will be revealed at 1 PM (Brussels time) and awarded by Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva.
This years edition highlights the achievements of laureates and finalists in three categories: Women Innovators, Rising Innovators (for those under 35), and Women Leaders of the EIT.
These exceptional women serve as inspiration for future generations, emphasizing the importance of diversity and gender equality in enhancing Europes competitiveness.

Commission clears acquisition of HPS by BlackRock
The European Commission has approved the acquisition of HPS by BlackRock under the EU Merger Regulation.
The transaction, focused on asset management services, poses no competition concerns due to the companies limited market positions. It underwent a simplified merger review.

Commissioner Jørgensen in Azerbaijan to reinforce energy cooperation
Commissioner Dan Jørgensen will visit Baku to strengthen the EU-Azerbaijan energy partnership. He will attend the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Council meetings, discussing pipeline capacity expansion and renewable energy cooperation.
He will also meet with Azerbaijani, Georgian, Romanian, Hungarian, and Bulgarian Ministers to review the green energy corridor agreement and co-chair a business roundtable on offshore wind energy in the Caspian Sea with the Azerbaijani Energy Minister.
En route to Baku, he will stop in Ankara to meet with Türkiyes Energy Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar.
