Alderman Micha Mos (GroenLinks) submitted his resignation on Friday as alderman for Work and Income, Poverty, Integration, Mobility, and Participation. In a letter to the Almere city council, he states that he is leaving immediately due to personal circumstances. This means that the college of mayor and aldermen will continue with six aldermen for the time being.

The college regrets the departure of alderman Mos but respects his decision. We have come to know Micha as a pleasant colleague and a fresh and driven administrator. An administrator who sought contact with residents and worked hard on important matters such as the city pass and social security. That he currently feels unable to fulfill his role affects us. We wish him strength and hope he can focus on his future in peace.

Who will take over Moss portfolio is not yet known. The college will discuss the internal division of tasks shortly. Whether the college will be supplemented and if so, on what timeline, is up to the city council. More clarity on this is expected soon.

Mos took office as alderman in Almere on May 30, 2024.
