People with support needs are also allowed to vote for the municipal council on March 18. Many of them may need help or explanation. For example, due to intellectual disabilities. Therefore, ’s Heeren Loo, in cooperation with the council clerk of the municipality, organizes the Political Café in Apeldoorn. Everyone is welcome!
Accessible politics is an important theme of the municipal council. It is important that people with disabilities who want to use their vote have the opportunity to do so. Much information from political parties is complicated for them. Also, the voting process is not always clear. In the Political Café, besides the conversation, there is also time for explanation about the municipal elections.
Reinier Mulder, known from the Political Active courses and a member of the Provincial States himself, will lead the conversation. Attendees can ask politicians questions about topics they find important. For example, about traffic, care, or work for people with a distance to the labor market. Politicians are challenged to express their answers and positions understandably.
