We receive over €7.5 million from the national government for Haarlem Oostpoort. This area around Spaarnwoude station will transform into a lively city district with space for living, working, and entrepreneurship in the coming years.
In Oostpoort and near Beatrixplein, 1,368 new homes will be built. Thanks to the contribution, we can start faster with the construction of a new cycling bridge over the railway, and thus also with the construction of the new homes. The bridge will make Oostpoort easily accessible for future residents and will become an important cycling connection for residents in the wider area.
Bridge connects cycling routes
The cycling bridge connects 2 important cycling routes. The new cycling route F205 runs from Haarlemmermeer to IJmuiden. At Oostpoort, it connects to the F200, the route from Amsterdam to Haarlem. The bridge over the railway completes the route. This also improves access to Spaarnwoude station and the Waarderpolder.
Accessibility scheme for new homes
The contribution from the national government comes from the Short-Term Housing Construction scheme (WoKT), which enables the construction of approximately 145,000 homes in the Netherlands. Through WoKT, the government invests in roads and bridges that make the new homes accessible. Municipalities must also contribute to the costs themselves.
In the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (MRA), thanks to the subsidy, approximately 32,000 homes can be built faster over the next 10 years. The cabinet is allocating a total of €2.5 billion to solve bottlenecks around the accessibility of housing locations. Over €400 million of this is spent in the MRA.
