Haarlem is well prepared for climate changes. In a study on the climate policies of 70 major Dutch municipalities, Haarlem ranks first.

Haarlem scores high because as a municipality we connect the different parts of our climate policy. We collaborate with other governments. And we record sustainability in our annual planning and control.

The Future Meter

Alderman for Sustainability Robbert Berkhout: This feels like recognition for our hard work. It is nice to see that the jury recognizes that we anchor climate policy in all our projects. This way we are increasingly able to make the step from vision to practice.

The Future Meter study was conducted on behalf of the Climate Alliance Netherlands association and the Grandparents for the Climate foundation. The Future Meter shows how municipalities work on climate and where improvements are possible. Most large municipalities participate.
