We are reintroducing the moving cost allowance for seniors living in rental homes. The municipal executive board has decided this within the Older Living & Comfortable Housing (OWPW) scheme.
The scheme is for tenants aged 65 and older who live in rental homes of Ymere, Pré Wonen, Elan Wonen, or Rosehaghe that have stairs in or to the home. Seniors must first register with their own housing corporation for the OWPW scheme. Then they can move with priority and keep their rent to an accessible home with an OWPW label. These homes are located in Haarlem or in the Zuid-Kennemerland/IJmond region. Tenants moving from Haarlem receive a one-time contribution of 20ac 1,250.
Living independently longer
We want to help seniors think in time about how they can live independently longer. Sometimes this can be done with adjustments in the current home. In other situations, moving to an accessible and single-floor home is a good alternative. Starting early with orientation provides peace of mind and helps in making a suitable choice.
For many seniors, moving is a big step. Therefore, we work together with housing corporations and Buurts. They support seniors who want to move to a single-floor home. Besides the financial contribution, there is also attention for good information and practical help.
