Deputy Marc van Caldenberg signed the cooperation agreement on Tuesday, February 24, with the municipality of Vaals, Krijtland Wonen, and Envida. Its good to see that housing and care partners, together with the municipality and province, are committed to improvements in the neighborhood. A good home in a safe environment is a home everyone deserves, says Van Caldenberg. In the coming weeks, Province of Limburg will formalize this integral and long-term cooperation for livable neighborhoods with the involved municipalities and partner organizations in an agreement.
Together with residents
Together with the residents, we will work in the coming years on a new implementation plan to make neighborhoods cleaner, greener, and safer. The cooperation focuses on improving housing, education, public space, and livability. This should increase social cohesion, strengthen the feeling of safety, and improve the health and vitality of residents. Emphasis is placed on equal opportunities, perspectives for youth, and investing in basic skills. In the neighborhood, the housing supply will be improved and made more sustainable, more meeting places will be created, and nuisance will be addressed.
10 million for neighborhood and village approach
The Province of Limburg is investing a total of 10 million euros in the Area-Oriented Neighborhood and Village Approach, aimed at structurally improving livability and security of existence in eight locations. These are: Kerkrade-East, the Vastenavondkamp neighborhood in Blerick (Venlo), Heerlen-North, the Maastricht neighborhoods Nazareth and Pottenberg, Donderberg in Roermond, the Offenbeek neighborhood in Reuver (Beesel), Geleen-South, and Vaals. Because every neighborhood is different, the approach remains tailor-made. Plans are made in consultation with residents so that they fit the environment and the people who live there.
