On January 27 and 28, a special exercise will take place by the Royal Netherlands Air Force at Schiphol. The training will be held during the day with four F-35 fighter jets and a transport aircraft.
During this training, the air force practices how military flight movements can be carried out safely and responsibly from a civilian airport. For Defense, Schiphol, and society, it is important that vital infrastructure and processes continue to function even in possible crisis and wartime. After takeoff, the aircraft fly on to the regular training areas in the country.
The execution of this training is done in close coordination between Defense and Schiphol, and in cooperation with Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W). Mayors of surrounding municipalities have been informed in advance. This training is temporary. There is no permanent deployment of military aircraft at Schiphol.
