In recent weeks, the annual municipal tax assessment has been sent out again. You may have already received it. On this page, you can read about the different payment options and how to ask for help. If you need assistance, call the municipality at 14 010. Together we will look for a solution that suits you.

A tax assessment never comes at a good time. But there are various ways to arrange that you do not have to pay the full amount immediately. You may be able to apply for remission of part of the amount. Here you can read what is possible.

Remission

Do you have little money? You may be entitled to allowances. On berekenuwrecht.nl you can calculate which amounts these are. And you can see if you may receive remission of the waste disposal tax. Then you only pay part of it. Whether you receive remission depends on your assets, income, and expenses.

Help with financial worries

If you do not receive remission but have difficulty paying your tax assessment, and you are worried about money and cannot manage on your own, the municipality can help. At the Vraagwijzer, the municipality looks together with you at which help suits your situation. Call 14 010 to make an appointment. Choose 9 for Other. Then ask for Vraagwijzer.

Make an objection

If you disagree with your municipal tax assessment, contact the municipality and file an objection within 6 weeks. You can easily do this yourself via Mijn Loket. Based on questions, you will find the type of objection you want to make. You will then see, for example, the WOZ value that is in the municipalitys system. And you will see which documents you need to submit for your objection to be processed.

Want to know how the municipality determines your WOZ value? View your appraisal report online via Mijn Loket. Link opens an external page.

Payment options

You can pay your tax assessment in one go. But you dont have to. You can also pay in installments. This can be done via direct debit or with a payment arrangement. Then you pay part of the amount each month.

Youth

For young people under 27, there is the Youth Desk. Link opens an external page. You can also make an appointment via 14 010.

Entrepreneurs

If you are an entrepreneur or freelancer, there is the Regional Bureau for the Self-Employed (RBZ). You can make an appointment via 010 - 433 96 00, option 2.

Also check the page Financial support for entrepreneurs. Link opens an external page.

Direct debit

You can choose direct debit. Then you give the municipality permission to withdraw part of the total amount from your account each month. You pay the tax assessment in 12 months. You pay no interest and always pay automatically on time. You can stop the direct debit at any time. You can request a direct debit via rotterdam.nl/automatischeincasso-aanvragen. Payment arrangement

You arrange a payment plan online via Mijn Loket. Link opens an external page. You choose yourself in how many months you want to pay the amount. You also choose on which day of the month you transfer the money. After the application, you will receive a letter. It contains your payment reference. You use this reference when transferring the money. Each month you transfer the amount yourself before the agreed date.
With a payment arrangement, you pay collection interest. This is 4.6% of the tax amount you have not yet paid.

You arrange this via rotterdam.nl/betalingsregeling-aanvragen. Link opens an external page.

Check your digital mailbox

You choose how you receive the annual tax assessment. On paper in your mailbox or digitally via MijnOverheid. Link opens an external page. The municipality receives many calls every year from Rotterdam residents. They, for example, receive a reminder but have not seen their tax assessment. The reason: they have not checked their Berichtenbox of MijnOverheid.

If you do not receive your tax assessment as a letter, check if you have received it via mijnoverheid.nl. You can log in on this website with your DigiD. If there is a message for you, you will receive an email at the email address you provided. Or you will receive a message from the Berichtenbox app if you have installed it.

You can set yourself whether you receive the tax assessment in the Berichtenbox of MijnOverheid. You can also make changes yourself via MijnOverheid via mijn.overheid.nl. Link opens an external page.
