We will continue to invest in youth in the coming years. With the latest Youth Impulse funds from the national government, we as a municipality support new and existing projects for young people. This money allows successful initiatives to continue. Young people also get more opportunities to participate in their city.
Collaborating in the city
We work together with organizations in the city. This creates places where young people can meet each other, try new things, and develop their talents. An important area is the Tramkade and the Clublab. Here creativity, culture, and meeting come together.
Youth participation
In recent years, we have spoken with young people from different groups. In 2024, they presented their ideas in a manifesto. They indicated that they especially need space: space to come together, create, and experiment. In 2026, we will continue to engage with young people in places they choose themselves. This way, projects better align with what young people really need.
Mariève Craste, Alderman for Culture: “We believe that culture helps young people move forward. It provides space to discover, create, and grow. With these additional funds, we can invest together with young people in places where they feel at home, from the Tramkade to projects in our neighborhoods and villages. This ensures that young people get opportunities that fit their own ideas and talents.”
New plans for nightlife
An important project is the renewal of nightlife. Young people want a safe and inclusive place where there is room for new music and talent. Around the Tramkade, new activities started in February. Stichting Stoom is conducting this pilot. Young people themselves help to think up and organize the plans. This leads to more talent development and a lively nightlife.
More places and projects in the city
There are also other projects: in Empel, a new outdoor meeting place is being created. Young people have contributed to the design. At Kunst Op Maat, young makers work together with young people who need extra support. They follow workshops such as dance, rap, and visual arts. This helps their self-confidence. The youth platform Young Creatives of Festival Cement brings young people together around performances, exhibitions, and concerts.
Theatre maker Minoux is working on La Vie Bohème: a safe place where young people can meet and be creative. With Cityboost, young people get help to realize their own ideas.
Looking ahead in summer 2026
In summer 2026, we will review together with young people what works well. Successful projects will continue. This way, ’s-Hertogenbosch keeps building a city where young people feel at home and can actively participate.
