Everyone deserves a roof over their head, including vulnerable youth. Therefore, the Municipality of Tilburg and Stichting Kamers met Aandacht are extending their collaboration to help these young people secure a safe and stable place to live.
Stichting Kamers met Aandacht is a non-profit organization. They assist young people for whom living independently is still just a step too far. They do this by connecting young people with people who have a spare room in their home. The young people live with a landlord and receive professional guidance from social services. This combination provides stability, structure, and a safe foundation so that the youth can take steps toward independence at their own pace.
Great Need
About 20% of the homeless in the Hart van Brabant region are between 18 and 27 years old. They may sleep on friends couches, in homeless shelters, or on the street. A solution for this group of young people is urgently needed. They often come from youth care or foster care and cannot rely on their own environment. As a result, they risk becoming homeless. “A safe room not only gives young people a place to live but also the peace of mind to move forward. I am proud of the Tilburg residents who open their doors and hearts for this. Together with these involved citizens and our partners, we offer vulnerable youth the stable foundation they deserve,” says Peter Kok, Alderman for Care and Support.
Safe Place
Kamers met Aandacht also sees that more and more young people in Tilburg need help. Nasr Ajarray, coordinator Kamers met Aandacht Tilburg: “A safe living place is the basis for vulnerable youth to build their future. By working together with involved citizens, social services, and the municipality, we can offer young people a safe and pleasant place.”
Immediate Results
The renewed collaboration is already showing results. Recently, two successful matches were made. Two young people found suitable housing with Tilburg residents who had a spare room. There they can work on their personal development and future in a calm and safe environment.

To help more young people, Kamers met Aandacht is actively looking for new landlords in Tilburg. People with a big heart and a little space. Do you have a spare room and the ability to give some attention? Then help a young person with a safe home and a good start to adulthood. You will also get something in return. The young person brings company and can help around the house. You can also receive a compensation of up to 499 euros per month.
