Today, the House of Representatives appointed Dion Huidekooper, André Poortman, and Annelotte Lammers as members of the parliamentary inquiry committee on Corona. Dion Huidekooper replaces Henk-Jan Oosterhuis for D66. With the addition of members Poortman and Lammers, the CDA and the Markuszower Group are now also part of the inquiry committee. The committee now has five members.

What does the committee investigate?

The inquiry committee aims to gain insight into the cabinets actions, the considerations made, and the insights underlying them during the corona years. This also applies to the role and functioning of the House of Representatives. The committee aims to draw lessons for the future. The inquiry committee specifically looks at how considerations were made between public health interests and other societal interests. The handling of fundamental rights and the role of healthcare in these considerations and decision-making are also addressed. The purpose of the parliamentary inquiry is to learn from the experiences of this crisis to be better prepared for possible future (health) crises.

Committee composition

The inquiry committee now consists of members Daan de Kort (VVD) - chairman, Songül Mutluer (GroenLinks-PvdA) - vice-chair, Dion Huidekooper (D66), André Poortman (CDA), and Annelotte Lammers (Markuszower Group). Until shortly before the elections, the inquiry committee decided to conduct preliminary interviews and ensured a good handover to the new members. This allows them to quickly familiarize themselves. The committee has conducted a total of 89 closed preliminary interviews.
