The support includes purchasing gas abroad, urgent repairs of power plants, and supplying energy equipment from Dutch companies, including generators and cables. This brings the total Dutch energy contribution for 2026 to €133 million.

In recent months, Russia has carried out large-scale and targeted attacks on Ukraines energy infrastructure while temperatures are well below freezing. As a result, the destruction is extensive, and millions of people are without gas, water, and electricity. The situation is currently so critical that President Zelensky has declared a state of emergency for the energy situation, and the mayor of Kyiv is calling on residents to evacuate.

State Secretary De Vries during her visit to Kyiv: ‘I see with my own eyes how Ukrainian energy facilities are targeted by Russian aggression. This leaves millions of Ukrainians in darkness and cold. The Netherlands continues to support Ukraine unwaveringly. We assist in purchasing gas and carrying out urgent repairs. Since the start of the war, we have also delivered more than 250 trucks of energy goods from Dutch companies. And we will continue to do so.’
