Theaters, cinemas, and concert halls can partially reopen from Wednesday, January 26, until 10 PM. However, there are several restrictive measures, such as showing a COVID pass, maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters, and wearing a mask while moving. Museums and monuments can also reopen, with a maximum of 1 visitor per 5 square meters in addition to showing a COVID pass and wearing a mask.

Inside, a maximum occupancy of 1/3 of the regular room capacity applies, with a maximum of 1250 people per space. Everyone must have a fixed seat, except in flow locations. Outside, 1/3 of the regular capacity applies with fixed seating at 1.5 meters.

State Secretary Gunay Uslu (Culture and Media): “This is just the beginning; the cultural sector is getting more space. Tomorrow everyone can return to museums, theaters, and cinemas. But we are not there yet. There is still much to do on the road to recovery for the sector.”

It is important to look at the long term. The Taskforce Cultural and Creative Sector has presented a roadmap. This will be involved in developing a long-term perspective for the cultural and creative industries and the events sector.

Due to capacity restrictions, the cabinet is considering ways to financially support the cultural and creative sector. This includes looking at the supplementary scheme at the Fund for the Performing Arts.
