On January 6, we installed Agnes Mulder as the new Kings Commissioner in a full Provincial Council hall. It was an afternoon full of warm words and beautiful performances.
Vice-chairman of the Provincial Council Jan Brouwer expressed the expectation that Agnes will be a wonderful figurehead for Drenthe. Then, deputy Gert-Jan Schuinder wished her success as chairwoman of the Provincial and Deputed States. Mayor Marco Out handed over a list of wishes from all twelve Drenthe mayors, and the Groningen commissioner René Paas looks forward to her Drenthe voice in the Circle of Commissioners.
The newly appointed commissioner concluded with a call to cooperate: “I am extremely grateful and honored to have received this trust. Let us be careful with what connects us. That also means sometimes pausing and listening carefully to each other.” In the coming period, she will get to know Drenthe better from her new role.
With performances by ANIQUE, the Noord Nederlands Orkest, and Renske van Oosterhout, and a joint toast to the new year during the subsequent New Years reception, we look back on a special start to the year.
