Snow and strong winds are causing disruptions on the provincial roads. Together with local parties, hard work is underway to keep all provincial roads open. Tractors and shovels are clearing snow from the roads to make them as passable as possible. Important routes, including access routes to hospitals, are receiving extra attention.

What this means for you

As long as this weather continues, it remains a challenge to keep roads clean and safe. Therefore, only go out if it is really necessary. Stay home if you can. Those who must travel should adjust their speed and distance accordingly. Tips for safe winter driving can be found at www.opwegindewinter.nl (links to another website).

We are doing our utmost to keep the roads passable. Under these weather conditions, the safety and availability of provincial roads cannot always be guaranteed. If it is necessary to temporarily close roads, this will be done in consultation with emergency services.

Why the situation has changed

Earlier it was reported that some roads would be closed. This was due to the situation earlier in the day. There was enough salt, but insufficient personnel and equipment to keep all roads passable. Additional capacity is now available, allowing more roads to remain open.

Bicycle paths

The provincial bicycle paths are currently not being cleared of snow.

Coordination and assistance

We maintain close contact with emergency services so that people in need can always receive help. There is also consultation with other road managers to support each other.
