The province is not operating the bridges as long as the red code is in effect. Throughout the day, we will monitor the situation and decide when operations can resume.
Routes and Priorities
The Province of Groningen remains committed to ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety on the roads it is responsible for. These roads can be found on the route map.
In extreme weather conditions, important routes are prioritized. In case of heavy snowfall, ice, or salt shortages, we first spread salt on areas with heavy traffic. Think of roads where public transport must continue running, routes near hospitals, and connections to national highways. Bridges and viaducts, which freeze faster, also receive extra attention.
