Napraten met de Staten is a new podcast from the Provincial Council of Utrecht. In each episode, residents from the province share what is happening in their area. How can council members help with the topics discussed during our residents evening Praten met de Staten? And most importantly: what have the council members done with their message?
Henk Ligthart is the principal of the VeenLanden College secondary school. In this episode, he talks about the fatal accidents at the intersection of Veenweg and N201. Many of his students use this cycling route. Therefore, he advocated during Praten met de Staten for a bike tunnel, which had previously been cut from the provinces plans to renovate this provincial road.
Committee member Rody van der Pouw-Kraan collaborated with former council member Gerdien Bikker on a proposal. The amendment stated that the tunnel must be reinstated and that 13 million euros should be reserved from the reserves. This amendment was submitted and adopted by all parties in the Provincial Council.
