The turnover of the hospitality sector grew by 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, reports Statistics Netherlands (CBS). The turnover of accommodation providers was 0.5 percent higher, the turnover of food and beverage establishments was 4.2 percent higher.
The annual figure is also available with the fourth quarter. In 2025, the turnover of the hospitality sector was 3.9 percent higher than in 2024. The turnover of food and beverage establishments grew by 4.8 percent, the turnover of accommodation providers was 1.7 percent higher. The growth of the hospitality sector was lower in 2025 than in 2024. Then the turnover growth was 5 percent.
Turnover accommodation providers 0.5 percent higher
The turnover of accommodation providers, including hotels and holiday parks, was 0.5 percent higher in the fourth quarter than in the fourth quarter of 2024. Hotels generated 2.3 percent more turnover. The turnover of other accommodation providers, including campsites and holiday parks, was 4.2 percent lower than a year earlier.
Food and beverage establishments generate 4.2 percent more turnover
Food and beverage establishments generated 4.2 percent more turnover in the fourth quarter than a year earlier. Canteens and catering realized the largest turnover increase of the hospitality branches with 6.2 percent. The turnover growth of fast food restaurants was 4.7 percent. Restaurants and cafes generated 3.7 and 2.6 percent more turnover respectively.
Hospitality entrepreneurs more negative in first quarter
Almost 4 weeks ago, CBS published about the business confidence of Dutch sectors in the first quarter of 2026. Business confidence is less negative than in the fourth quarter of 2025. However, confidence in hospitality has deteriorated.
Business confidence in hospitality fell from -8.4 in the fourth quarter of 2025 to -12 in the first quarter of 2026. Hospitality entrepreneurs were mainly more negative about the economic climate in the coming three months.
