Since October 1, the Limited Security Department (BBA) within PI Haaglanden has officially been put into use. With the opening of this department, located behind the towers of the PI, PI Haaglanden contributes to increasing detention capacity and promoting a safe return of detainees to society.
The BBA Haaglanden accommodates a maximum of 27 detainees who are in the final phase of their detention. In this phase, reintegration is central: detainees work outside the walls of the institution or follow a training course and then return to the BBA for meals, overnight stays, and guidance.
In recent months, intensive work has been done to prepare this new department. The opening was celebrated with an open afternoon for local residents and family members of staff. In the following days, the first trial participants were welcomed to test the procedures, after which the first real participants have now arrived.
The department is staffed by an enthusiastic team of PIWers, complex security officers, and senior case managers. Together, they ensure a safe, structured, and motivating environment in which detainees can work on their future.
