Her Majesty Queen Máxima, honorary chair of the MIND Us Foundation, will visit the municipality of Tilburg on Tuesday afternoon, February 3, as part of the Leading Locals network of MIND Us. Tilburg is one of the eleven leading municipalities participating in the network. The working visit will take place in the Hall of Fame. During the visit, special attention will be paid to how Tilburg has involved young people in the drafting and implementation of the action plan Mental Health for All Youth 2023-2026.
Leading Locals is a learning network of MIND Us in which municipalities can exchange good practices on addressing mental health issues among young people in their city or town. This way, municipalities can inspire each other and work towards an integrated approach to support young people in their mental well-being. One of the principles is that young people are part of policy development and implementation. The learning network started in November 2023 during a meeting at Noordeinde Palace. Previously, Queen Máxima visited the municipality of Hollands Kroon, the municipality of Leiden, the municipality of Deventer, and the municipality of Haarlem.
Youth and youth workers in Tilburg talk about how they are involved in the creation of the action plan and the importance of youth participation in policy formation. Afterwards, Queen Máxima participates in a workshop where young people learn to positively use their experiences with mental health issues. Finally, Queen Máxima engages in discussions with various stakeholders from the municipality, the Midden Brabant region, and the social domain about how they work together with young people to create a mentally resilient region.
