Her Majesty Queen Máxima visits the Republic of Indonesia from Monday evening, November 24 to Thursday, November 27 in her role as the United Nations Secretary-Generals Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA). She meets with users of financial services, government representatives, development organizations, financial institutions, and (fintech) companies to discuss policies and financial products and services that contribute to the financial resilience and wellbeing of the Indonesian population.

Tuesday, November 25 Central Java

On Tuesday, Queen Máxima begins with field visits around Surakarta (Solo). She speaks at a garment factory with employees participating in the Reimagining Industries to Support Equality (RISE) program. Several major international clothing brands aim to contribute to the financial health of workers in the clothing and footwear industry. Employees receive their salaries digitally, can more easily pay bills, and receive training in budgeting and saving. Furthermore, Queen Máxima visits an authentic batik workshop where she speaks with female entrepreneurs. Fintech Amartha supports them with a digital platform for loans, small investments, and online banking in a user-friendly app. The entrepreneurs also receive training in financial and digital skills. Finally, Queen Máxima talks with several young people, students, entrepreneurs, and an influencer about their experiences with financial products and services. Wednesday, November 26 Jakarta

In the morning, Queen Máxima participates in a roundtable discussion with development organizations at the local UN office, then speaks at the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank, about developing loans that contribute to economic growth and financial health.

Subsequently, she visits the Gran Harmoni Cluster Housing outside Jakarta. This housing project provides low-emission homes for low- and middle-income groups, with Bank Tabungan Negara offering affordable mortgages and insurance. Queen Máxima meets several homeowners and attends the plenary signing of mortgage agreements with families buying a home for the first time.

In the afternoon, Queen Máxima meets with employers at Deloitte to discuss what they can do for the financial health of their employees and customers. Finally, there is a discussion with CEOs of companies, organized by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, about developing insurance and savings programs that help people cope with financial setbacks.

Thursday, November 27 Jakarta

The last day focuses on the National Financial Health Event, organized by the national financial services regulator, OJK. Queen Máxima participates in a roundtable discussion on combating scamming for safe use of financial services. There is also a meeting with ministers about policies and regulations that contribute to the financial health of households, and she speaks with representatives of OJK. At the plenary program of the event, Queen Máxima participates in a fireside chat on the theme of financial health.

During the visit, a meeting is also scheduled with President Prabowo Subianto, where Queen Máxima will discuss her findings from the visit.

Queen Máxima previously visited Indonesia as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for inclusive finance for development in 2012, 2016, and 2018.

In the Netherlands, Queen Máxima is committed to financial health as honorary chair of the Stichting Financieel Gezond Nederland and the platform Wijzer in geldzaken.
