The Public Prosecution Service demands 24 years imprisonment against a 33-year-old man from Zoetermeer suspected of murder of a 41-year-old man from The Hague. The victim was shot dead on June 23, 2023, in Wenckebachstraat in The Hague. According to the PPS, the suspect was involved from the beginning in the preparation of this assassination and played a crucial role.
On Friday evening, June 23, at ten past half past eight in the evening, the shooting took place in the middle of a residential area in The Hague. The victim was driving his car when he was shot at close range from a motorcycle with two people on it. The man was resuscitated but help was in vain. He died on the spot.
Under the leadership of the Public Prosecution Service in The Hague, a Large-scale Investigation Team (TGO) was set up. For the entire night, forensic investigations were conducted in the street and footage from a security camera was secured. The footage shows the driver of the motorcycle and the shooter. On October 9, 2023, the driver of the motorcycle was arrested. The shooter has not been found.
Preparation
According to the PPS, the suspect played a crucial role in the preparation of the assassination. For example, the beacon found under the victims car could be linked to the phone the suspect had in his possession, and he is the owner of the motorcycle used in the assassination. There are also camera images showing the motorcycle driver with his hand in a cast or bandage. The suspect had broken his hand at the time of the murder.

“Murder is among the most serious criminal offenses known to the law,” said the public prosecutor. “The suspect has deprived the relatives of a beloved father, husband, brother, and son. With his actions, the suspect has also shocked society as a whole. Residents heard the shots or were confronted with the consequences. The suspects actions have caused feelings of fear and insecurity among them and others who became aware of it.”
Besides murder, the suspect is also guilty of illegal possession of weapons and drug trafficking. He is said to have traded soft drugs in prison.
