Instructors and Candidates Checked for Driving Under Influence; Three Arrests

Gebied: Alkmaar

Driving under influence is dangerous for traffic. It affects your reactions and perception. This applies to all drivers.

On January 6th, police checked driving instructors and candidates on the Olympiaweg in Alkmaar. They increasingly monitor driving under influence among examiners and instructors.

Thirty People Checked
A total of thirty individuals underwent a breath and saliva test. A breath test indicates if someone has consumed too much alcohol, while the saliva test shows whether drugs are present in the body. Instructors were also checked for their WRM license.

Three Test Positive for Drugs
Everyone tested negative for alcohol. Three individuals, including a 26-year-old woman and two men aged 31 and 20 from Amsterdam and Heerhugowaard, tested positive for drugs and were arrested.

Effect of Drugs on Driving Ability
Some drugs and medications remain in your system for a long time. A positive saliva test may also indicate prior use. With a positive result, blood is taken for further analysis. This determines if there is a prosecutable amount of drugs.
