Every few months, large-scale controls like this are carried out aimed at sport and recreational fishermen. Fortunately, this often leads to beautiful encounters, as seen in the attached photo showing a father and son enjoying sport fishing. The controls are necessary, as irregularities are regularly found. Permits are violated when fishing without a fishing license, when live fish are kept in keep nets in the water, and when poaching occurs.
A total of 285 sport fishermen were checked. 39 fines were issued for, among other things, not having a fishing license, fishing with prohibited bait, fishing in protected nature areas, and poaching. Live fish found in a net were returned to good health. The 27-year-old man from The Hague with the dead fish is suspected of poaching. He must report to a police station later for questioning.
