At around 1:25 AM, the police received a report of an alarm at a residence on Ringbaan-Oost. The caller heard whispering near the alarm and saw a vehicle in the area. They immediately provided the vehicles license plate to the police. Thanks to this quick information, officers could immediately look out for the vehicle in the vicinity.
When officers arrived, the vehicle had driven away towards the train viaduct.
Vehicle followed on A58
Soon after, officers saw the vehicle driving on the A58 towards Tilburg. The car had entered the highway via Kempenbaan. They followed the vehicle and relayed the location to patrolling units.
Another police unit then signaled the driver to stop. The car stopped at the Shell gas station along the A58 near Bavel. Officers joined the control.
Outstanding detention days
During the check, officers noticed smoke inside the car. On the floor lay a broken phone that was smoking. The phone was seized.
Checking the data revealed that the 37-year-old man from Krimpen aan den IJssel had outstanding detention days. Officers arrested him and transferred him to the detention complex on Ringbaan-West in Tilburg.
Weapon and jewelry found
The police took the vehicle to the station for further investigation. During the search of the car, officers found a firearm or a similar object. They also found several pieces of jewelry. These were seized.
The police are investigating the origin of the found goods and the possible involvement of the suspect in the alarm report at the residence.
