On Tuesday morning around 10:20 AM, officers entered a residence on Noordstraat in Hoek. During the search, they found a homemade explosive in a container in the garden. It was decided to involve the explosives reconnaissance unit. The house was evacuated and the street cordoned off. Subsequently, the TEV (Explosives Safety Team) and the EOD (Defense Explosive Disposal Service) arrived on site. They searched the house and destroyed the explosive.
During the search, the officers also found a large quantity of illegal fireworks in the shed. This illegal fireworks was seized. The resident was arrested and taken to a police detention center. He is being interrogated and the police are conducting further investigation.
