On Tuesday, January 20, around 9:50 PM, the police were called because there was a possible burglary at the neighbors. There were indications that shots might have been fired, so many officers responded immediately to secure the situation as quickly as possible. Neighbors were asked to stay indoors to ensure their safety.
At the scene, it turned out there was no burglary but property damage. No firearm was found in the house after a thorough search by officers. The suspect, a 25-year-old man, had permission from the owner to be in the house. The man was arrested for damage to and in the house. During the arrest, officers were insulted and threatened. Reports of threats and insults have been filed.
Violence against police officers
The police consider aggression and violence against their staff and other emergency workers unacceptable. Physical violence, threats, assault, or insults against staff are not tolerated. Incidents where police officers are victims of aggression or violence are given high priority. Police and justice apply the same approach: reports are always recorded, perpetrators are prioritized by the Public Prosecution Service to be brought before the court, and triple the usual penalty is demanded against perpetrators.
