The investigation was conducted in cooperation with the Vehicle Crime Insurance Bureau Foundation (VbV). This foundation is a joint initiative of all Dutch damage insurers and has no commercial interest.

Due to traceability, we can only name one exact location. Five cargo bikes were found at Izaak Enschedeweg by the Haarlem basic team. The other bicycles were found at two locations in Nieuwveen and Alphen aan den Rijn. The suspects will still be invited to give a statement at the police station.

Neighborhood officer Waarderpolder (Haarlem) Sam Hendriks: “This investigation shows what we as a basic team can achieve and how valuable cooperation is. Sometimes multiple puzzle pieces are needed to close a case, and that missing piece in this case came from the Vehicle Crime Insurance Bureau Foundation. We are proud of this result and the cooperation with the The Hague unit and VbV. Not everyone can just buy a new bike, and if it is your only means of transport, theft causes extra hassle. Therefore, we are still looking for the owners of the found cargo bikes. Is your cargo bike stolen and can you prove it is yours? Then contact the police station or come by.”
