Officers en route to the station called the reporter. The reporter indicated that a conductor had been hit by the man. At the station, officers spoke with the victim and witnesses. Around 11:00 AM, officers saw a man on the platform matching the description. The 23-year-old man from Middelburg was arrested and taken to the police station.

Public duty
The government does not tolerate verbal or physical violence against law enforcement officers, police personnel, emergency responders, and government staff and acts decisively against it. Anyone who commits aggression or violence against an employee with a public duty must be punished quickly and severely. It has been agreed with the Public Prosecution Service that the penalty demand for violence against employees with a public duty will be increased.
