The award ceremony for 2025 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought laureates Andrzej Poczobut and Mzia Amaglobeli will be held on Tuesday 16 December.
Journalists can express their interest in conducting interviews with the representatives of the Sakharov Prize laureates by registering via this EU survey linkby Friday 5 December at 18.00 CET at the latest. Consecutive interpretation in English will be provided.

The main representative for Andrzej Poczobut, from Belarus, will be his daughter Jana Poczobut who will be accompanied by Anna Kietlińska, President of the Podlaskie Branch of the "Polish Community" Association.
For Mzia Amaglobeli, from Georgia, the representatives attending the award ceremony will be Irma Dimitradze, journalist at Gazeti Batumelebi, and Khatuna Jinjikhadze, Deputy Director of the Civil Society Foundation in Georgia. They will be accompanied by Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, international lawyer.
Representatives of the other finalists for the 2025 Sakharov Prize will also be in Strasbourg during the award ceremony week and available for interviews:
- Marta Lorenzo, Director of the UNRWA Representative Office for Europe;
- Nasser Abu Bakr, President of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate;
- Dr Younis Al-Khatib, President of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS); and
- representatives of Serbian students.
Please note that making a request does not guarantee you will be granted an interview.
You will receive confirmation of whether you have secured an interview slot, or not, on Wednesday 10 December at the latest.
Interviews will take place on Monday 15 December in the afternoon, Tuesday 16 December in the afternoon, Wednesday 17 December in the morning.
Media seminar
Journalists can also take part in a hybrid media seminar with this year’s Sakharov Prize laureate representatives and finalists, and with MEPs. The event will take place on Tuesday 16 December, from 9.00 to 11.15.
