The move of the Party Pig is getting closer. If all goes well, the Arnhem symbol will move to Jansveld in Sonsbeek Park for the summer. The municipality grants a temporary environmental permit for this location. The Party Pig will be here for the next 10 years.
Alderman of Culture Cathelijne Bouwkamp: The move of the Party Pig is finally really happening now. The artwork is a true Arnhem icon. Many Arnhem residents cannot wait until it gets a worthy place in the city again, so children can play on it and art lovers can enjoy it. Sonsbeek Park is a beautiful and fitting place for the next ten years: rich in art, easily accessible and itself also an Arnhem icon.
A place for ten years
The permit allows the artwork by Florentijn Hofman to be placed in Sonsbeek Park for the next 10 years. After 10 years, we will look again for a suitable place. The granted permit is available for inspection for 6 weeks after publication. The municipality aims to move the Party Pig before the start of summer.
Search for a new location
At the moment, the Party Pig is stored at Burgers Zoo. Together with artist Florentijn Hofman and Burgers Zoo, the municipality of Arnhem has been looking for a new location for the Party Pig for some time. In June 2024, Jansveld in Sonsbeek Park emerged as a suitable location. In the coming period, the Party Pig will be refurbished and prepared for the move.
