The joint approach focuses on healthy, social, and sustainable living in a broad sense. Specifically, this means that public spaces will become greener and additional meeting places will be created for young and old alike. For example, a so-called social sofa will be installed where people can engage in conversation, and there will be plenty of play opportunities for children in a child-friendly corridor. Furthermore, water retention measures will be implemented to enhance water safety. Additionally, the redesign of streets will be used to make the living environment safer for traffic and more accessible.
Deputy Michael Theuns: The plans perfectly align with the provincial ambitions for livability and sustainability. That is why we, as the Province, are investing in this and confidently signing this Livability Agreement for Voerendaal-East. I am pleased that so many different projects are being realized that contribute to a healthy, safe, and social living environment for the residents of Voerendaal. We are happy to commit ourselves to this!
With a targeted Livability approach, the Province of Limburg is committed to a good, healthy, and safe life for every resident of Limburg. Many people in Limburg are doing well, but the livability in some Limburg municipalities is under pressure.
