As part of the Restoring Trust program, Mayor Paul Depla of the Municipality of Breda, in collaboration with the council office, launches a new podcast series that takes residents through current political and social themes in an accessible way. The goal is to strengthen local democracy and better involve residents in the decisions made by the city council. In the new series, Mayor Depla also acts as interviewer, engaging residents and politicians in open conversations about topics relevant to the city.

The first series of episodes was recorded at Breda University (BUAS). With the new series, production moves to public locations De Nieuwe Veste and the Chassé Theater, bringing the podcast closer to the city and its residents.

Questions from residents

Through breda.nl/podcast, residents have been able to submit their questions over the past weeks about what they find important for Breda. This option was frequently used. The questions will be presented in upcoming podcasts to the lead candidates of Breda political parties, who will explain their positions ahead of the municipal elections on March 18, 2026, with Mayor Depla as moderator.
