There is a new report of avian influenza near our municipality. Part of Overbetuwe lies within the protection and surveillance zone that applies to the area within 10 kilometers around an infected farm.

Transport Ban in Part of Our Municipality

A transport ban applies immediately throughout this entire 10-kilometer zone. This means that no poultry and hatching or consumption eggs may be transported from locations with birds in this zone. There is also a ban on the removal of manure from birds and used litter, as well as other animals and animal products originating from farms with birds. These measures are necessary to prevent spread to other parts of the country.

The location of the 10-kilometer zone can be seen on the animal disease viewer of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

Reporting Dead or Sick Birds

If you find a dead or sick bird during a walk in the countryside or a nature area, do not touch it. Report the finding to the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). Especially when multiple dead birds are found together, reporting is important. This may indicate avian influenza among wild birds.
