Fewer new vacancies in education, but increase in vocational education (mbo)
In the 2024/25 school year, over 34 thousand new vacancies arose in education, with a slight decrease compared to the previous year. Only in vocational education (mbo) and special primary education did demand increase.
In the 2024/25 school year, over 34 thousand new vacancies arose in education, 5 thousand fewer than in the previous school year. Only in vocational education (mbo) and special primary education did the demand for new employees increase. On average, 6 thousand vacancies were open in education in 2024/25. This is evident from new figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Converted to the number of requested hours, the 34 thousand vacancies in education correspond to 24 thousand full-time jobs (also called full-time equivalents or FTE). That is 1 thousand fewer than in the previous school year. Most vacancies arose in secondary education and primary education, while demand decreased most there.
