’s-Hertogenbosch gains a new place for makers. Stichting Het Nest wins the open call for the new creative breeding ground at the Spinhuiswal. From a small residency space, Het Nest grows into an accessible place of over 360 m² where makers, the public, and the city meet. The new location opens Sunday, August 30.

The selection committee chose Het Nest because of “its strong energy, a clear maker mentality, and a convincing vision of a vibrant, accessible place that attracts new creativity and truly adds something to the city.”

Artistic and business leader Eva van Pelt responds: “We want to lay a solid foundation under the makers climate in ’s-Hertogenbosch and grow into a must-visit spot in the cityscape that daily evokes excitement and wonder.”

According to alderwoman for Culture, Mariève Craste, the breeding ground fits the municipality’s course: “With Het Nest at the Spinhuiswal, we give talent in our city the space to grow. Makers provide new ideas, encounters, and liveliness. With this breeding ground, we invest in a strong cultural base and the future of our city.”

In the coming months, Het Nest will work on furnishing the new location, with more residencies, collaborations, and continuous public programming. Everyone can soon drop by several days a week (free) for installations, try-outs, and meetings with artists.
