Rain no problem
Despite a heavy rain shower, the atmosphere on 11 March was excellent during the Tree Planting Festival in Wolfheze. Children from the Beatrix School were clearly eager to plant trees together with Deputy Harold Zoet and alderman Joa Maouche. In addition, the children received an explanation from Jacqueline Baar of Soil Best about fungi in the soil and why they are important. Fungi help trees grow better. The children immediately got to work with this. With shovels and great enthusiasm, they added the fungi when planting and firmly planted the young trees in the soil. The new trees contribute to biodiversity on the site and to a greener Wolfheze.
Tree Planting Festival symbol of cooperation around changes in Wolfheze
Province of Gelderland, municipality of Renkum and Pro Persona jointly organized this Tree Planting Festival due to the major changes coming to the Wolfheze area. The direct reason is the municipalitys project at the railway crossing. In Wolfheze, the railway crossing at Wolfhezerweg is disappearing. In its place will come an underpass for motorized traffic, cyclists and pedestrians. Many trees were recently cut down for this. The municipality wants to show that greenery in and around the village is still very important. Pro Persona joins in this. There are also big plans for more homes and renovation of existing buildings on the Pro Persona site. A green, pleasant living environment is important for clients, employees and the surroundings according to Pro Persona. Our nature project Boschhoeve is also located next to the Pro Persona site. With the Boschhoeve nature project, we want to create a strong nature connection between the heathlands Reijerskamp and Doorwerthse heath. The more nature and biodiversity there is in the project area, the better nature can develop.
The Tree Planting Festival is a nice moment to show that what we do in one place also affects another place. It is important to work on this together with the environment.
