Beesel is one of eight Limburg municipalities participating in the Area-Focused Neighborhoods and Villages Approach of the province. This approach centers on livability. The province is investing a total of 10 million euros in eight locations in Limburg.

Broad Collaboration

The collaboration is deliberately broad. Schools Akkoord!, Kerobei, and Onderwijs Midden-Limburg participate, as do childcare organizations Spring and ’t Rovertje. Welfare organization Synthese, the police, housing corporation Nester, and Maas en Peel Library also join. Together with the municipality and the province, they form one team.

Deputy Marc van Caldenberg sees great strength in this approach:

“We are not working on a short project here, but on a joint long-term assignment. By connecting education, care, housing, and safety, we strengthen the foundation in Reuver and Offenbeek. This ensures that children have equal opportunities and that residents receive the support they need on time.”

Focus on Opportunities and Health

The partners focus on strengthening health, development, and upbringing. They want to detect signals earlier and provide help faster when needed. They also aim for equal opportunities for all children and to prevent educational disadvantages.

In the coming months, the partners will jointly create concrete action plans. Existing initiatives will be included. At the same time, they look for new opportunities. Residents play an important role in this. Their ideas and experiences help make choices that fit Reuver and Offenbeek.

With this Village Deal, the province and partners build villages where people look out for each other and where everyone can participate. Beesel is the fifth municipality where a cooperation agreement has been signed.

10 Million for Neighborhoods and Villages Approach

The Province of Limburg is investing a total of 10 million euros in the Area-Focused Neighborhoods and Villages Approach, aimed at structurally improving livability and livelihood security in eight locations. These are: Kerkrade-East, the Vastenavondkamp neighborhood in Blerick (Venlo), Heerlen-North, the Maastricht neighborhoods Nazareth and Pottenberg, Donderberg in Roermond, the Offenbeek neighborhood in Reuver (Beesel), Geleen-South, and Vaals. Because every neighborhood is different, the approach remains tailor-made. Plans are made in consultation with residents to fit the environment and the people living there.
