With a ride from Waspik to Waalwijk, the hub and stop service Bravoflex officially started Friday afternoon in the East Brabant region. This new way of traveling connects small villages and suburbs at any time of the week with regular public transport. More than 100 new stops in the region are being put into use for Bravoflex.
Bravoflex operates without fixed routes or timetables. Travelers can book a ride by calling or using a special app. A ride with Bravoflex can be started from all more than 1,200 regular bus stops in East Brabant and from the more than 100 new Bravoflex stops. Every day of the week and until late in the evening. For only 2 euros, Bravoflex takes you from a stop to a transfer stop: for example, a train or bus station where you can continue your journey.
In this way, Bravoflex is a valuable addition to existing public transport. Small villages and suburbs are also connected to the Brabant public transport network. For an additional fee, Bravoflex can also be booked for a ride to a specific stop up to 25 kilometers away. All rides are provided by local taxi companies.
Real addition
“This is a milestone for all travelers in East Brabant,” says deputy Stijn Smeulders (mobility). “From now on, many more Brabanders are directly connected to our public transport network at any time of the week. Also in places where the big bus does not stop or where the neighborhood bus only runs on weekdays. So it is really an addition to public transport, not a replacement. This way everyone can keep participating. And we make many more trips and meetings possible.”
New Bravoflex stops
The start of Bravoflex was symbolically celebrated Friday afternoon with a ride from the new Bravoflex stop on Carmelietenstraat in Waspik to the bus station in Waalwijk. A ride that was not possible with public transport until recently. In total, there are 8 new Bravoflex stops within the municipal boundaries of Waalwijk. In the entire East Brabant region, there are currently 108. The expectation is that this number will grow in the coming months.
Extra flexibility
“With Bravoflex, we concretely implement our Mobility Vision. By adding extra capillaries to our public transport network, we improve accessibility in Waalwijk, especially in places and times where the regular bus does not run. This lowers the threshold to use public transport, also in the evenings and on weekends, for work, school, care and meetings,” says alderman Ad de Jong.
East Brabant is the 2nd concession area where Bravoflex is being rolled out. In January 2025, the service already started in West Brabant. In the past year, about 2,000 rides were made with Bravoflex there. The service is so successful that the number of Bravoflex stops was already expanded from over 40 to over 60 during the year. In Southeast Brabant, Bravoflex will start in March 2026.
