In 2026, the province will again open 2 subsidy schemes for the preservation and restoration of healthy forests. Forest owners in Brabant, such as land management organizations (TBOs), municipalities, and estates, can apply for subsidies for forest revitalization and hydrological measures.

What has changed?

Since the previous opening, 2 important changes have been made:

  1. More customization in soil improvement on poor sandy soils.
Based on a soil study, you now determine the dosage, composition, and the area to be treated yourself. This soil study must be conducted before applying for the subsidy.
  2. More types of soil improvers allowed.
In addition to rock dust, lime and shell grit are now also permitted.

Wild Trees and Shrubs List

The Province of North Brabant wants to better protect wild trees and shrubs. Therefore, lists have been drawn up with species that you may plant. In areas with wild trees and shrubs, a limited species list applies. In other forests, a broader list applies. Check in advance whether your forest lies within an area with wild trees and shrubs.
