Residents, foundations, associations, and other community initiatives who want to green their neighborhood and make it climate resilient can again apply to the Neighborhood Nature and Water Fund. The Province of North Brabant, the North Brabant Culture Fund, and the water boards Brabantse Delta, Aa en Maas, and De Dommel are making €250,000 available this year for small-scale nature and water projects carried out together with residents. The North Brabant Culture Fund administers the scheme and processes the applications.
The Neighborhood Nature and Water Fund supports small-scale initiatives by residents that contribute to local climate resilience, social connection, and awareness.
“Residents can do a lot to make their neighborhood green and climate resilient, and it is not only useful but also fun to do together,” says Hagar Roijackers, Deputy for Nature, Environment and Rural Area Approach of the Province of North Brabant.
“Community places such as sports clubs, public church gardens, and cemeteries, or the realization of rainwater retention by gardening associations, also contribute to a resilient living environment. With this scheme, we support projects that make a local impact and connect people.”
Who can apply?
Individuals, foundations, associations, and self-employed persons can apply for financial contributions for small-scale nature and water projects, such as:
- green roofs and facades
- community vegetable gardens and food forests
- sedum roofs and greening of former paved areas

- improvement of biodiversity (The variety of life in a specific area)
The projects must be carried out together with initiators and contribute to a healthy, sustainable, and climate-resilient living environment.
