Commissioner of the King Hans Oosters, after good consultation with the faction leaders of the municipal council of Renswoude, appointed Mayor Gert-Jan Kats of the municipality of Veenendaal as temporary acting mayor of Renswoude per March 2. Kats will perform this role alongside his duties as mayor of Veenendaal. This is necessary because the current mayor of Renswoude, Petra Doornenbal, will become acting mayor of Wijk bij Duurstede as of March 2.
The commissioner has asked Mayor Kats to be available until shortly after the municipal elections on March 18. Afterwards, the commissioner will appoint an acting mayor for a longer period in consultation with the faction leaders.
Later, the vacancy for a new crown-appointed mayor for Renswoude will be opened. The timing of this is not yet known.
