The 20-year-old man from Amsterdam sustained his injuries shortly after midnight on Monday, February 9. Witnesses inside the restaurant saw him attempting to place an explosive device at the location. A 29-year-old man from Weesp has been arrested for this assault.
At the scene, officers found a possible explosive object. Therefore, after the injured man was checked at the hospital, he was also arrested for attempted arson with an explosive. The investigation is ongoing to determine exactly what happened. The municipality has since closed the restaurant.
