Around 7:30 PM that Tuesday evening, the police received a report of a conflict between neighbors on Transvaalstraat. Officers went to the scene and spoke with both parties. When the situation seemed under control, they left. Shortly after, the conflict flared up again and the officers returned. It turned out one neighbor had threatened the other. The officers decided to arrest the aggressor.

After several officers arrived, they proceeded upstairs via the stairwell, where the suspect was at the top of the stairs. Just as the officers were about to reach him, he suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed in the direction of the officers. The officers felt forced to retreat. They escaped unharmed. The suspect then went further upstairs and barricaded himself inside the residence.

Negotiators, a drone team, and dog handlers with shields were deployed. When officers stood outside the house on the street, the suspect threw objects at them from his upper-floor apartment. Then he appeared halfway up the stairs holding a large knife. In this stairwell, the suspect was finally arrested using a stun gun. The situation was so threatening that officers also drew their firearms and aimed at the suspect. After his arrest, officers transferred the suspect to the detention center.
