Nadya Aboyaakoub-Akkouh, district alderwoman Liendert-Rustenburg: “The strength of the Liendert Academy(external link) is that it is an initiative from within the neighborhood itself. And where all neighborhood residents are welcome: to learn themselves or to share their own knowledge, skills and experiences with others. When adults grow, their children grow along. This creates better work and school opportunities for young and old and because neighborhood residents cooperate and get to know each other, also a nicer neighborhood to live in.”
Start of first training sessions
There is already a Language Café every morning in Liendert and this spring the first new training sessions will also start, given by residents from the neighborhood at locations in the neighborhood. Residents can attend free classes, such as digital skills, working and applying for jobs, and Dutch language lessons. To make the offer accessible to all neighborhood residents, the lessons are free, multilingual and children can simply join.
The lessons will soon be findable in the agenda of the Liendertrustenburg website(external link).
Wij Liendert
The Liendert Academy(external link) is part of the Wij Liendert environmental program. With this program, the neighborhood will receive extra attention and support in the coming years. The municipality wants to strengthen the neighborhood together with residents, entrepreneurs, organizations and neighborhood professionals. We make Liendert healthier, safer and more promising, with better employment and education and less poverty. In addition, there will be more and better green spaces, and we work on more suitable housing, shops and community centers.
