From June, visitors to Rotterdam can park their cars at P+R Blijdorp and continue their journey into the city by public transport. Parking at P+R Blijdorp is free if you then travel further by public transport.
The Municipality of Rotterdam and Diergaarde Blijdorp have jointly reserved 250 parking spaces on the zoos parking lot. The agreement for P+R Blijdorp runs until June 1, 2028.
10 minutes to Rotterdam Central Station
Alderman Pascal Lansink – Bastemeijer (Enforcement, Public Space and Mobility) is pleased with the extra P+R spots: ‘From the A13 and A20, many cars enter Rotterdam at Blijdorp. People on their way to work or visiting our city. From this new P+R, during rush hour, you can take a bus 9 times per hour and outside rush hour 8 times per hour within 10 minutes to Rotterdam Central Station. An ideal parking spot, because when you leave, you are really on the highway in no time.’
Diergaarde Blijdorp
For the zoo, the P+R is also a solution, says Toine Linders, financial director of Diergaarde Blijdorp: The cooperation offers Blijdorp, as part of the recovery plan, a great opportunity for better utilization of our parking lot.
Also with electric shared scooter and bike
At P+R Blijdorp, you can park for free for a maximum of 24 hours, just like at P+R Kralingse Zoom and P+R Slinge.
From June, it is even possible to park for free if you then use shared transport such as a scooter or a bike. Parking at the P+R is also possible without subsequently traveling by public transport or shared transport. Then a daily rate of €12.50 applies. The daily rate also applies if you park longer than 24 hours.
The expansion of P+R spots in Rotterdam is necessary to ensure less traffic enters the city via the center. Read more about the P+R sites in Rotterdam on the website rotterdam.nl/pr-terreinen. Link opens an external page in a new browser tab..
