On the night of September 23 to 24, 2025, an explosive was found at a restaurant on Kruisstraat. The person who placed it was caught before detonating it and fled the scene. The detectives immediately started an investigation. Officers found a bag containing illegal fireworks and flammable liquid at the location.

Following further investigation and a witness appeal, a suspect came into view. The 16-year-old boy was detained this morning at his home in Eindhoven and is being questioned.

Project Aurora

The area around Kruisstraat and Woenselse Markt in Eindhoven is diverse in cultures, lifestyles, and entrepreneurship. Efforts are underway to strengthen the positive aspects of this area as part of Pact Woensel Zuid.

One ambition is that people feel comfortable and safe at Woenselse Markt and Kruisstraat, both at home and on the street. This is achieved by reducing heavy traffic and litter and working towards a broader range of shops.

At the same time, there has long been crime, nuisance, and public order disturbances at Woenselse Markt and Kruisstraat. In Project Aurora, the municipality, police, public prosecution, and tax authorities collaborate to tackle this persistent undermining. This effort will continue not only this year but in the coming years. They do this by detecting and combating criminal networks. The goal is to break the areas unwanted appeal to criminals and prevent them from relocating entirely to another part of the city. This creates room for improvement and contributes to a pleasant and safe neighborhood.
