The police received information that a drug lab might be present on the property. Therefore, on the evening of Saturday, February 21, a raid was conducted. In the building, a detached shed/warehouse, the police found a drug lab. The lab was not operational at that time. Various materials for producing synthetic hard drugs were present in the building.
Arrest and Investigation
The police arrested a man who was on the property. He is a 66-year-old man from the municipality of Heerenveen. He was taken to the detention center and is being questioned. The investigation into the drug lab is ongoing. Specialists from the National Facility for Dismantling (LFO) will safely dismantle the lab.
Suspect a drug lab?
Drug laboratories and storage sites pose a significant risk in residential areas and business parks. Not only the production process but also the storage of chemical substances is dangerous. If you have tips about the presence of such criminal activities, please report them to the police. You can call 0900-8844 or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 0800-7000. Provide information such as license plates, cars, or descriptions of persons near the property if possible.
How to recognize a drug lab?
Drug labs can be located anywhere; in rural areas or big cities, in farm sheds, houses, garages, or apartment buildings. Signs of a drug lab include a strong synthetic smell (anise-like or chemically irritating, sour or acetone). Also, unused doors and windows are often sealed, for example with foam sealant.
